Más de una treintena de artistas con los que compartió carrera o a los que sirvió de faro para alumbrar nuevos caminos han querido participar en en el homenaje que este sábado se ha rendido a Paco de Lucía en el Teatro Real de Madrid.
Ha este evento titulado ‘Infinito’ han asistido más de 1.700 personas, el aforo completo.
El genio de la guitarra de Algeciras fallecía hace ocho años pero no ha sido hasta hoy que su legado a recibido un homenaje a la altura, con parte de lo más granado del mundo flamenco hincando rodilla ante su figura.
La cita ha sido elegida para cerrar la sexta edición del Universal Music Festival.
Además ha sido la puesta de largo de la Fundación Paco de Lucía, presidida por su viuda, Gabriela Canseco.
Curiosamente, en una pensión muy cerca del Real vivió de niño el homenajeado junto a su padre y su hermano Pepe cuando vinieron a probar suerte a Madrid como artistas, sin saber entonces que algún día sería él el primero de este género que abriría sus puertas de par en par a este arte.
«¿Qué tiene este flamenco que se mete en todas partes?», suponía un Paco de Lucía jocoso que podría haber pensado Manuel de Falla de haber vivido esa gesta, teniendo en cuenta que el compositor hubo de marcharse a París para estrenar «El amor brujo».
Ha sido en uno de los muchos vídeos de recuerdo proyectados entre actuaciones en este espectáculo en el que sus compañeros de profesión, a falta del apoyo institucional que sus herederos tanto han echado de menos para divulgar su legado, han puesto en valor no solo su virtuosismo al toque, sino «su aportación impagable a la música».
Arropado por siete cantaoras, Farru ha sido el encargado de abrir la velada con su zapateado hipnótico, al que han sucedido la voz honda y elegante de Mariza y la guitarra de Josemi Carmona para explorar los puntos de encuentro con el fado.
«No hay sensación como la del escenario», reflexionaba en uno de los vídeos el propio Paco de Lucía, que ha recordado asimismo cómo su nombre artístico, un tributo a su madre, le venía desde la infancia, cuando en su Algeciras natal distinguían a Francisco Sánchez (su nombre real) como «Paco el de Luzia, la portuguesa».
Esos pequeños fragmentos recuperados del pasado han permitido rememorar además de su magia a la guitarra que si se cobijó tras ella fue por timidez, pues en realidad consideraba la voz «el instrumento más humano», entablando probablemente por ello ese gran tándem junto a Camarón de la Isla.
De grandes voces tampoco ha andado falto este homenaje, que ha contado por ejemplo con Miguel Poveda.
«En este Teatro Real se le acogió con recelo, porque lo que entonces ignorábamos es que teníamos en él a nuestro Mozart o Beethoven y que, gracias a aquello, ahora otros podemos visitar los grandes teatros del mundo», ha recordado el cantaor catalán.
De esa dimensión internacional ha hablado la presencia en esta velada por separado de dos de los iconos de la guitarra junto a los que conformó el memorable The Guitar Trio, primero John McLaughlin apoyado por el piano y, después, Al Di Meola, el hombre que hace casi 50 años lo introdujo en el jazz tras grabar una pieza emblemática como «Mediterranean sundance», reinterpretada este sábado junto a Antonio Sánchez.
Agradecimiento
El alcalde, José Ignacio Landaluce, ha hecho llegar su agradecimiento en nombre de la ciudad a los promotores de “Infinito”, el homenaje que pasado mañana sábado será tributado en el Teatro Real de Madrid a la memoria y a la figura de Paco de Lucía “por el empeño que han demostrado por seguir ensalzando al genio de Algeciras”.
El primer edil ha recordado que “el más grande guitarrista de los todos los tiempos y el algecireño más universal fue quien abrió la puerta del Teatro Real para que entrase el flamenco. Corría el año 1975 y ahora, 47 años después y cuando se han cumplido ocho desde su partida, su recuerdo está y seguirá estando más vivo que nunca”.
“De ello se va a encargar el amplio elenco de artistas que pasará por el escenario, muchos de los cuales compartieron con Paco de Lucía parte de sus carreras, sumando nuevos y grande éxitos. Nos consta que preparar este tributo no ha sido cuestión fácil, y que los promotores, junto a la familia y a la fundación que lleva el nombre nuestro paisano han realizado un arduo trabajo para confeccionar ese cartel de lujo, esfuerzo que desde Algeciras reconocemos y agradecemos”, subraya el regidor.
Finalmente, Landaluce destaca que “todos los homenajes, reconocimientos y tributos que se realicen a la memoria de Paco de Lucía siempre serán pocos, si tenemos en cuenta la dimensión mundial del artista. En Algeciras sigue cada día más vivo su recuerdo, y para ello continuaremos caminando y trabajando siempre de la mano de su familia, de su viuda, Gabriela Canseco; de su primera esposa, Casilda Varela, de sus hijos, Lucía, Casilda, Curro, Antonia y Diego, de su hermano Pepe, de todos sus sobrinos, y de quienes han consagrado sus vidas a cuidar y engrandecer el legado de una persona única e irrepetible”.
